The first and only Club Windward/Leeward race series was held downriver.
A glorious day with a 5 to 10 knt Easterly was predicted – the forecast proved to be very accurate.
After a tow down to Saxon – positioned just off Folly Point, 5 boats managed to start the first race after quite a long delay. The tide was roaring over the line and Gandalf timed the start perfectly getting away from the rest of the fleet who trying desperately to get around behind the committee boat. A great win for Edwin which counted for our Proton Cup series.
The second race was again across the tide – OCD was well over at the start but returned and still made it first to the windward mark. Jamie on Whistle managed to hit the Leeward mark twice giving away good places – a testament of the very tricky sailing with strong tides and a fickle wind. Well done OCD.
A communal decision was made to head home after the second race.
A beautiful evening in the bar maybe was the highlight of a hot and sunny day on the water.
