Introducing our new Chief Instructor – Elliot Marks

Introducing Elliot Marks our New Chief Instructor at MYC

Elliot has been sailing for over 20 years, initially in a Pacer & Wayfarer on family holidays on the Norfolk Broads and flotilla holidays around the Greek islands.

Qualified as a Senior Instructor, Dinghy Instructor, Race Coach & Day Skipper, Elliot will be completing his Keelboat endorsement in March of this year to bring further training opportunities to Medway Yacht Club.

Elliot says, ‘when I was younger my first love was gymnastics and football but I got the sailing bug when I was bought my first Topper. I enjoyed sailing at Bough Beech SC, with Kent Schools Sailing Association and taking part in Topper Open events and the Worlds. I then moved on to a Laser, then an RS300 and now I am trying to get to grips with an RS600, I am happy to jump into any dinghy and give it a go, annoying my Dad by beating him in his old Wayfarer at the Wayfarer Open at Bough Beech. Sailing has given me lots of opportunities to meet many interesting people and make lots of good friends. I look forward to meeting you at Medway Yacht Club’.

Whilst Elliot settles in a new programme of training sessions will be announced in due course. In the meantime when visiting the club please can drop in and say hello to Elliot.
