Sailability at Medway Yacht Club
Medway Yacht Club provides facilities for all who wish to sail. Their efforts include hosting Medway Sailability.
Disabilities come in all shapes, sizes and ages, and all are welcome. Sailing is usually on a weekend, but if there is anyone who can only do a Friday sail then this can be arranged. Members can become part of the crew, or simply enjoy the sail, if that is what they prefer. Whilst our vessel Able Spirit cannot accommodate wheelchairs we can assist those able to get onboard, and take them out for a sail. We currently have people sailing who have very limited mobility, swapping the wheelchair for a stick and helping hands, blind and deaf members, and some with balance problems for a variety of reasons. The only thing that would stop a sail is the weather, and we have now started alternative activities should this be a problem in the day. We have a fabulous team of volunteers from the Yacht Club, and support workers are welcome.
Why not come and try a sail?
