We are excited to announce the opportunity to become a Lead Instructor at Medway Yacht Club (MYC). We are looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing and motivated individual to support our full-time team during a period when the club is investing in new training equipment, developing its facilities and expanding its training offering to over 500 members.
Located at Lower Upnor on the banks of the tidal River Medway just down river from Chatham historic dockyard only 35 miles from central London and is easily accessible from London, Kent, Sussex or Essex. The tidal Medway on which the club operates provides excellent sailing perfect for both racing and cruising. The many reaches, bends and creeks provide for a wide variety of courses and for our racing fleets and secluded anchorages for cruisers.
We are now looking for an RYA Senior Instructor to take on the Lead Instructor role on a full time, permanent basis. The role requires a flexible approach with the successful candidate working a minimum of 35hr contract over weekends, evenings and bank holidays as required. Typical working week Wednesday – Sunday.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of a range of training programmes from evening have a go session’s to RYA recognised courses for both adults and children. They will also be responsible for promoting courses and taking the lead in RYA initiatives such as ‘Push the Boat Out’. Working with volunteer instructors and administration teams ensuring that MYC provides well organised courses in line with member requirements.
Experience & Qualifications:
- RYA Senior Instructor
- General Boat maintenance and repairs
- Microsoft Office Skills
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working at a recognised training centre as an active SI
- Coastal / Tidal experience would be an advantage
- RYA Powerboat Instructor
- Multihull/Racing/Advanced/Keelboat Instructor endorsements
- Good racing knowledge
- Experience in providing safety cover for racing events
