Two of the Sunday morning racing sessions have now been completed with two contrasting weather conditions.
Sunday 13th December saw 7 sailors using the big rig (“A”) all morning. Fourteen races were sailed with Tony Owens showing the fleet a very clean pairs of heals winning the day by 12 points. The Wayfarer trio of Tony Alexander, Richard Stone and Jon Moon took the next places. A great start for the Winter Series.
The second Sunday provided a fresh breeze that changed into 18kts. The first race started with the “B” rigs but proved marginal for Race 2. Two boats changed to “C” rigs for race 3 and immediately benefited with best results. Jon Moon was one of these and his good form from last week and keeping out of trouble gave him some great consistency and an overall win for the day over the 12 races, winning by 8.5 points from Jamie Blair. Third, fourth and fifth was closely contested between Richard Stone, Tony Alexander and David Townshend. Nine boats were on the water with a number missing on taxi duty or involved in preparation for Christmas. The day was curtailed when the rain came in and whilst most scuttled for shelter Richard Stone stayed out for some more practice. Thanks also go to Dick Owens who took on instructor role with Geoff Smith.
You may have seen some racing photos taken on an aborted day when the wind was even stronger by our resident snappy Les Willson. They were posted on Facebook on the MYC FB page. See this selection
