The Following Series of Four Races will be organised by the  MYC  Cruiser Class :-

 

The Hamilton Bowl       For Cruiser Class Div 1   IRC rated boats

 

     The Proton Cup             For Cruiser Class Div 2  MYC  PN rated boats

The Cruiser Class Summer Series consist of four races, with the best three results to count. The boat's O.A. place number will count towards the Captains' Cup (Div 1) or Gill Cup (Div 2) for the 2007 Championships.                                                                                          

 

1.0

Rules        The race will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS),  the Prescriptions of the RYA,

the MYC Cruiser Class Sailing Instructions, including any supplementary S.I.’s, and appropriate  ORC,  rating authority and class rules.    ISAF Advertising Code Category C and IRC2000 Part 3 (IRC-C) apply.

2.0

Classes to Race :

2.1

Cruiser Class  Div 1          shall fly Numeral Pennant No. 1

Cruiser Class  Div 2          shall fly Numeral Pennant No. 2,               except that Medway Sonata OD boats may fly

                                     International Code Flag F instead of  No. 2 Pennant when racing in Div 2.

2.2

Eligibility to Race

Cruiser Class Div 1   ( IRC ) is open to mono hull  Cruisers having a current valid RORC  IRC rating certificate.

Cruiser Class Div 2  ( PN )   is open to mono hull  Cruisers having a valid MYA  PN certificate .

Boats without a valid 2007 MYA PN certificate should apply in good time to the MYA Cruiser Handicappers for an application form.   ( Contact MYC office,  tel. 01634 718399, or MYC web site ).

2.3

Boats must be sailed in rating trim,  carry a copy of their rating certificate on board and be available for inspection.

2.4

The race committee reserves the right to refuse any entry.

3.0

Race Programme.

Start Times  will be as shown above,  any variation will be made in accordance with the Sailing Instructions.

Races will be started using the  MYC "5,4,1,Go" system,   with the Warning signal at 5 minutes before the start.

4.0

Scoring System.   Points will be awarded using the RRS Appendix A Low Point System.  (A2 and A9 will apply).

5.0

Sailing Instructions.

5.1

MYC Cruiser Class  2007 Sailing Instructions will apply together with any Supplementary Sailing Instructions.

These will be posted to entrants and will also be available from the MYC administration office (01634  718399),  the  MYC race box and the Cruiser Class Treasurer,  Marilyn Stewart (01322  446322).

Courses, designated by numbers, will be selected from the MYC  "Cruiser Class"  Course Sheet, revised 2007,  unless otherwise stated in Supplementary Sailing Instructions.

Courses set may only be shortened by a committee boat finish line correctly established at a mark of the course.

5.4

Time Limit        will be 1600 hours for the first boat in each race and rule RRS 35 applies.

6.0

Race Entry Conditions and Fees.

6.1

A signed Entry Form  must be received before the start of the boat’s first race.

6.2

Entry Fees will be £10 for the series of four races.  Individual race entry fees will be £3 per race.

7.0

Prizes.   The trophies named above will be presented to the Class winners at the Cruiser Class Prize Giving at the Strood Plate Dinner in the MYC clubhouse on Saturday 17th  November, 2007.

Additional keepsake prizes will be awarded dependant upon the number of starters in each race.

8.0

Over All series place numbers will count towards the Captain's Cup (Div 1) or Gill Cup (Div 2) for the season's Over-All Champion.   For details of scoring method see Sailing Instructions, Appendix A.
