Facilities for yachts

Moorings

The MYC has 216 moorings: 150 swinging moorings and 66 fore and aft moorings. We have moorings for craft up to 42’, but most of the moorings are for smaller craft. Members wishing to apply for a mooring should complete a Mooring Application form and submit it to the Hon. Mooring Master. Application forms are available from the Office.

Owners are requested to notify the Hon. Mooring Master or the Office if they are going to vacate their moorings for more than a few days. This allows us to offer moorings to visiting yachtsmen.

Scrubbing

The Club has excellent scrubbing facilities

-         Scrubbing Trolley (Lady Di) Situated opposite the Boat Shed, this equipment is purpose built to bring your boat out of the water for cleaning or minor maintenance. Training can be arranged with the Boson. Because of the popularity of this piece of equipment it is necessary to book with the Office for its use and the time allowed is restricted to one hour. Once trained you, will be issued with a key.

-         Scrubbing Posts. Between the two dinghy ramps, these static posts sit on a concrete base. It is necessary to lay at these posts well before the low tide and recover on the flow. The Scrubbing Posts booking diary is kept in the Office.

Pontoon

Our deep water pontoon permits easy all tide access to your yacht. There is approximately 1metre of water at LWS. There is a water point on the end of the pontoon. A trolley for luggage is locked to the fence just beyond the pontoon (combination lock code 1881).  Please do not moor at the end of the pontoon for longer than 10 minutes at the weekend.

Trot Boat

During the sailing season the Club operates a weekend trot boat service – times are posted in the Office window. The Trot boat will take you to any MYC mooring.  This service is free of charge to MYC members.

Tenders and Outboards

If you wish to store your tender at the Club or if you wish to put your inflatable in the inflatables storage pen, please contact the Beachmaster or the Office. Remember to affix your annual license sticker to the stern of your tender.

Winter Storage

You can store your yacht over winter in the Clubs grounds. We have hard standing for 150 yachts. The compound is security lit, and fenced. The compound is provided with plenty of water and electric points.

Hauling Out

The Club has 14 ton Wise Travel Hoist - this straddle carrier takes boats out of the water and carries them direct to the car park for winter storage. If you wish to over winter at the Club you need to book your haul out / launch with the Office – it’s best to book a month or two ahead. Bookings can only be accepted on a duly completed application form.

Night Security Patrols

In order to deter theft and vandalism the yacht clubs on the river operate a night time security patrol of the moorings – during the sailing season. All mooring holders are required to join in - typically you will be rostered once every three years.

Facilities for Cruiser Class members

In addition to the facilities provided by the Club, The Cruiser Class provides the following for its members:
